Wait... they can't take a break on releasing a COD game every year so they could develop a new engine that could possibly make COD a good game?

There's only so much you can do w/ a modified quake 3 arena engine. It's time for a new engine. If they don't want to dev. one, just build atop one like UE3 or CryEngine 3, or SOMETHING. The engine is showing it's age.

This is a fine example and a confirmation that developers are getting lazy by half-ass'ing customers with their washed up recycled games, and STILL charge $60...
It's really not the developers, but the publishers squeezing the balls of the developers and forcing them to pump out watered-down content annually.

Theres a lot of people in this thread saying things that they dont understand.

When you have actually done some mapping/ level editing / game development, there are a lot of things you are aware of that not even hardcore gamers would notice.

Just because a game runs faster or has higher resolution textures or polygons does not mean the engine is better.

It makes sense for them to re-use the same engine. COD is mostly a console game, until the next gen consoles comes out, they are limited to the same hardware. They can probably do some optimizations here and there, but writing a new engine for the same hardware doesn't make sense.

Either the engine doesn't play nice or the devs are really lazy since CoD games on the 360 and ps3 run at sub-HD res scaled up by the console. Lots of other games don't do that to my knowledge, so they're doing something wrong.

Why do so many people love MW2? I feel that it was the worst of the series (with the exception of cod 3). I couldn't stand the ridiculous riot shields and the just absurdity of the game. Blops isn't as good as Cod4 but it's huge step up from MW2. The fact that I couldn't play Blops on my Phenom II x3 was pathetic, though.
