No Highs, No Lows, Must Be Bose!

Thread Starter
I know it has been discussed many times before, but how bad are Bose products? Are they actually bad, or are they grossly overpriced? I would never be interested in buying their products, but I just want to know.

Both bad and grossly overpriced.

Reviewing their 'top of the line' Acoustimass system:
Quote:
This six-speaker unit costs $1299.99 USD MSRP. From dissecting it, I can tell you it costs $100, no more than $150 tops, to assemble. It performs similarly to a $500 Optimus-Radio Shack surround sound system and is very easily outperformed by a $350 Cambridge Soundworks system.

I like how an amp and the NHT SuperZero 2.0s which are $99.99 can perform better. It's funny to be exact.

They skimp on quality parts, but keep the price tag high as if quality parts WERE used.

It depends on what kind of Bose products you are talking about. Their old products back in the 70's like the 901's were pretty solid.

I have a pair, and they are very solid for the money.

Bose is the epitome of overrated.

Yeah, but they don't make stuff like they did, with care and quality, like the did in the 70's. That goes for all companies.

Looks like one of the many companies that rely too heavily on their brand name for 'quality' products. It's a complete joke. There are much better products out there that will outdo Bose.

Same as Monster, Oakley, and all those other brands that build their name on a "elite" image while using shoddy parts.

(OK my Oakleys are badass and I enjoy my Monster turbines, but you get the point)
