Very few games are released without bugs. BC2 had a crapload during beta, got a bunch ironed out, and fixed the rest soon after with patches. Now it runs beautifully.

I can understand BF1942; it was a WWII game, and fairly slow until you brought mods like Desert Combat into play. You're telling me that BF2's value only comes from mods? There are good ones, sure, but the core game is solid as well, and where I see most of the focus.

I've also seen the videos of the beta on Youtube (I don't condone piracy, mind you); the game looks the same there. Also, I'm talking gameplay as well; it lost the Crysis feel. As I said, I haven't completely given up hope, but I've given up on a pre-order.

More importantly, BF3 is also looking to be a audio masterpiece as well. I might be overzealous, but I have this inkling that the game will be close to perfect.
That's because the leaked beta isn't the finished game and is also only DX9. DX11 has a lot of effects which aren't in 9, so it can look quite different. for one, tessellation.

Ah that's right, forgot about the lack of DX11; I retract that comment then. Regardless, the differences, from my knowledge, are not groundbreaking enough to change the look of the game significantly. Will it look better with DX11 features? Yes. Better than than the original Crysis? Not likely.

It may not have been the final game, but it was leaked recently enough, that the visual state of the game could not be significantly modified in the available time.

Then again, I like to be pessimistic in some cases.

Well I think the 2 major diff will be tessellation and BC6 & BC7 textures. which will basically make it look sharper (textures) w/ higher geometry & better lighting (as the DX11 textures handle HDR better than 10 & 9). who knows if they'll use compute shaders. if they do it could also mean better post-processing effects.
