Hey guys,

I am new to overclock.net. I have been scouring the internet for every little piece of information I can get my hands on about building a kickass gaming rig. This site seems to be reputable when it comes to news and forums so I thought I would pick some of your brains I have some specs for a rig in the works that I will receive as a graduation present when I graduate college in May ^^ (BBA in Computer Information Systems). So... I am going to list below and let me know what you guys think! Any and all feedback (good or bad) is welcome.

My Kickass Gaming Rig Specs:

Case: Cooler Master HAF X
Mobo: MSI Bigbang X Power
CPU: Intel I7-950
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V6 GT
GPU: EVGA GTX 580
PSU: 1000W Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold Series
RAM: 12GB Corsair Dominator
SSD: 120GB OCZ Vertex 2
HD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black
Optical Drive: LG DVD Burner

I have already bought all my periphials, let me know if you guys want to discuss those too

...jealousy!

Welcome to OCN!

You certainly won't use 12GB of RAM unless planning on video editing, Photoshop, etc. 6 is plenty for gaming rig.
Would recommend an H70 over a V6 cooler. But, still, it'll work with good temps.
Also, 1000W is way overkill. Unless you're planning on future upgrades.

other than that... pure jealousy!

EDIT: Idk much about that board... i'll let other people take a look at that and see what they have to say.

Hey gnarlybug5, thanks for the feedback Any suggestions for a good PSU when it comes to wattage? Also, as I understand the H70 is like a self contained water cooling solution. I suppose this is kind of silly to ask cause it would be the same with any water cooling but... any chance of leakage?

Oh yes. I've seen many people complain and post about the H70 leaking. I think that's the reason why the H60 is coming out soon. The V6GT you picked is already good. Many people are satisfied enough.

Everything is nice. If I were you. I would go for the Corsair 1000w HX/AX but that is just me. Everything else is good.

Good luck.

well, there is always a chance of leaking in any watercooling system. which is why it's best to test the loop separately from the system itself. but, the h70 rarely ever has leaks that weren't caused by some user error or mishandling.

This is a site from the country I live in right now as you can see in my sig.

Well you don't have to go over the H70. Many people said that the H70 just has like lesser few degrees than the H50 so its not worth paying the big extra money.

The original poster said that he'll be getting his PC set up on May so its quite far and surely he can see some reviews on the H60 but aircooling is not bad at all.

Edit
I just love to help out and give suggestions but I'm really not saying it will surely happen with you. There are even chances nothing will happen with you but after few months some leaks will start to appear that you won't notice.
