New Gaming Rig In The Works - Page 3

If this is to be built in May, wait for the LGA 1155 motherboards to come back in stock and go for a Sandy Bridge (Core i5/i7 2xxx) build. Grab a solid Asus or Gigabyte motherboard, drop your PSU down to a quality 750W unit (Corsair comes to mind), lower your RAM to 4GB or 6GB max. Also, unless you plan to be conservative, grab a mechanical hard drive for your User folders and files, and dedicate your SSD for games/applications.

Ok so that is like 5 for Sandy Bridge, cool ^^ Yeah I have heard with the K series that overclocking is sick due to the unlocked cores. I deffinatly want to overclock so that is a good point to make. My only concern would be about the motherboards making it back on the market, but doesn't sound like that is going to be a problem Thanks for the info guys.

Not gonna lie, Sandy Bridge seems to blow everything else away. Just take a look at some of the benchmarks.

Quick question: How high is the budget involved for this build?

Nice benchmarks. The budget I am thinking is no more than $2000. I have already bought the case I listed.

Great setup! In honesty if you can steer yourself away from the Big Bang I'd think your gunna better. I'm not to fond of the board i've had some issues with it and trying to get rid of mine myself. Its not terrible very cool, but i'm not sure if its just me but I cannot seem to get my i7 stable past 3.4gHZ at ALL. I'm recomending the eVGA Classified or the Asus Rampage III, if you can swap one of them out without a money issue or anything. Never mentioned it so I wasn't sure.
