here are the settings im using and all the info i could think of

the CPU voltage is at 1.35

the cpu ratio/multplier is at 19.0

DRAM voltage is at 2.00

CPU/NB voltage is at 1.375

now this is my first time and i have not messed with anything else but the DRAM frequency which i put at 1600 mhz for the ram i have is 1600 mhz.also left the CPU voltage at 1.35 stock.im running prime95 100% load and i have temp monitors going and so far its maintianed at 57c-58c for awhile now and has not crashed on me.id like to hit the 4.0 if more but not to sure what exactly im lookin for here.ill also include a cpu-z validate so if im doing something wrong or any ? that i didnt mention please feel free to talk give input.any input good or bad is my goal.below is the banner and or link.like i said any inout will help thanks guys.

You should hit 4.0ghz easy with 20x200 settings. maybe a little voltage bump.

It sounds like you got a good CPU. I'm hoping I'll land a good one back from RMA. The first 965BE I recieved wouldn't overclock worth a flip, and it wouldn't run C&Q at stock clocks/voltage without crashing/locking up my rig. Yours should be good for 4.0+ with minimal effort, and maybe even 4.1-4.2 with a little tweaking.

In other news...is there any particular reason you are running your RAM at 2.0v? If it is rated at 1600Mhz, it is DDR3. DDR3 should only need 1.5v-1.65v at stock speeds. In fact, 2.0v is pushing the upper safe voltage limit for DDR3 without some substantial cooling.

Edit: try to keep your temps around 60-65 max, voltage at or below 1.5v (safe is better than sorry), and run it for 2-4 hours on Prime95 to test stability. After a burn in test, I usually run a F@H client overnight to make absolutely sure my OC is stable. If a rig can run a F@H client for 8-10 hours without an early unit end (EUE), it's stable as far as I'm concerned.

no reason that the DRAM is that high when i set the DRAM frequency in the bios to 1600 mhz it sets itself to 2.0v automatically.and yes the temp has maintained at 57c-59c

200 is the FSB speed, it should say something like 200MHz in your BIOS, so you end up getting the 4GHz from a 200MHz FSB multiplied by 20. As for things to look out for, make sure you're CPU isn't going above 65C, and just keep upping the multiplier until you get BSOD's from prime95. Once you get that, you can try increasing your CPU/NB voltage a little at a time (1.45 max for stock cooling probably, maybe less to be conservative). You're not going to burn the chip unless you run it necessarily hot, which will come from too high of a CPU voltage. You can't really harm the CPU from just getting BSODs from too high of clock speeds.

Also, why is your RAM at 2V? OP has a good point.

BSODs = Blue Screens of Death! Its slang for crashes (ie, your system/overclock is unstable), and F@H is folding at home - which can be a fairly system intensive program.

BSOD = Blue Screen of Death: it's the blue screen you sometimes see when a computer crashes, usually caused by high OC or low voltage

F@H = Folding @Home

Is it possibly to hit 4.0 with stock voltage on the 965?
