Thinking about a Rasa...I'm a noob though ;)

^- that specifically....

I've never done water cooling before, I'm a complete and utter noob at it..I am considering it because..well..it might be a better option than the Corsair H70 (I know it will cool better) but hey I have some concerns...

-How much maintenence does it require? I'm afraid of algae/microbes/etc..and im not fond of say, having to tear the entire system apart and scrub out all of the tubes every two months or keeping my system COMPLETELY free of dust of any sort......

-How hard is it to get things leak proof? I've done pond/aquarium stuff in the past and sometimes getting good leak free connections is a pain...

-I'm going to be using this in my new build which has an NZXT Phantom case, a P67 Sabertooth motherboard and an i7-2600k, will i run into any big problems? I'm thinking the radiator can go up top.....

-I want something rather quiet yet high performance...this will do that right? (By quiet, roughly the level of my current Antec 900 with all its fans at roughly medium)

you should be fine. rasa's are very easy and user friendly from what i've heard. They are aimed at first time watercoolers. As for maintenance, after you set up a watercooling loop, you can pretty much forget about it for a while. I drain and flush my loop once every six months or so. I've never had any problems with algae and it is pretty much impossible for dust to get into the loop. When you fill the loop, use distilled water and put a killcoil in as well ( http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11...g6T5&mv_pc=380 ).

I'm not sure about the rasa in particular, but it is generally relatively easy to leakproof a system. If you are worried, set up the system outside of the case and run it for 24 hours before attaching it to your components. Make sure you use the right size tubing, barbs and clamps.

You should be fine watercooling in a nzxt phantom, from a quick google search it looks like people have managed to fit 2 240 rads in it with no modding (one on top and one on bottom). Its a big case so everything should fit fine.

A watercooling loop, if set up right, should be significantly quieter than air cooling.

Just a heads up, if you are planning to only watercool the cpu then the 240 rad in that kit will most likely be adequate. However, if you want to do gpus as well, then you are going to want either a bigger radiator or multiple radiators. Also, even for just cpu cooling, your system could benefit from adding another 240 to the loop at some point.

I think I covered all of your questions.

ive got the kit in my rig right now. its been sitting pretty a since december.

the kit is not bad itself, but the tubing IS HORRIBLE. turns murky white after 3 months. i recently changed it out and retubed it. and its fine now.

as for leak proofing, just use teflon tape and you should be fine.

o yeah the stock fans are not quiet at all... theyre actually decent performance. it should cool your cpu very well though if thats all youre setting it up for.

Ok...so if what you guys say is right, fill it up with some of this stuff:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/69...e_F1-0001.html

Throw one of these in the reservoir:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11...oir_Strip.html

And tube it with this:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/82...?tl=g30c99s809

and I should have a no-maintenence water cool setup where i wont have to worry about anything at all except for the coolant level...right?

A big no no.. Do not use coolant, they tend to build up gunk on your blocks. Stick with the good stuff; distilled water + PT Nuke, and that KillCoil should be a decent upgrade.

Maintenance - I clean out my loop every 6-8 months.

Leak proofing - do a 24/hour leak test if you're that worried. I never do a 24 hour leak test. I just secure my barbs and hoses and test for a few hours bleeding the air out.

Radiator - it can go anywhere you can fit it, get Gentle Typhoon AP-14 or AP-15 for fans.

Oh, and I wouldn't use those colored liquids for your cooling. Distilled water is a better choice.

oh and the killcoil goes in the tubing not the radiator

DONT tape the connections. Run the system for a few hours befor connecting power to rig. The leak can go onto the pc components if you dont have power to the pc wont damage it Just let it dry out. I would recommend 1/2 barbs on 7/16 tubes. could get a better setup but the cpu wont run that hot. your 460 will love water cooling tho.
