Temperature isn't the only thing that kills parts. High voltage = high current = chance of death. Cross your fingers and hope it was your motherboard, and not the chip as well.

If you want specifics, read up the Wikipedia article on Ohm's law. Essentially, think of the equation V=IR. Since the parts themselves are not changing, if we assume the parts keep a constant resistance R, as voltage V increases, the current I will also increase.

The point is long as temp is low then high voltage ok ????

wattage=voltage time amperage.

At high speeds the processor can demand more current and then voltage might not change. Of course higher voltage usually is needed as well. There is NO way for you to determine how much amperage/current is being pulled.

wattage/voltage=amperage so in theory no higher voltage =less amperage for the same wattage.

No. If you read my first post, temperatures are not the only issue. The number and quality of voltage regulator modules (under the cooling solutions near your CPU) are what determine how high you can go, but it is never all right to crank up voltages for long periods of time, unless you're prepared for fried parts.
