6'5" guy here again. I know I already said it, but the G9 KILLS my hands; it's a claw grip that will turn your hand in a craggy old claw within hours. And I know a lot of people like to recommend Logitech mice, but I've had the privilege of trying almost all of them and hating almost all of them. My G500, for instance, is in RMA because the grip started peeling, the left click was double clicking, and the rubber felt gooey and slightly unnatural, and the scroll wheel didn't stop free-scrolling... not to mention the fact that my hand is sore after two hours of gaming.

In my experience (and this may be due to selective attention), most of the best gamers in the most intense FPS games tend to use Razer, Steelseries, and even cheap optical mice. Perhaps there are great FPS gamers who use Logitech mice, but they're few and far between. Here are a few rules about Logitech mice:
1) Non-versatile. You don't get to choose how to grip the mouse. There's only one way to do it. If the mouse has exchangeable grips, the extent to which your hand is cramped into an awkward position is merely adjusted.
2) You get what you pay for... as far as hardware goes. If you buy a cheap Logitech mouse, like, say, an X7... It will be an absolutely horrible mouse.
3) The features far surpass their applicability. Need two side buttons? Great. We'll give you 8 programmable macro buttons so you'll keep accidentally hitting them while you're trying to play. Need a scroll wheel? Great. We'll make side-scrolling just as easily as normal scrolling so you constantly side-scroll instead of hitting middle-mouse. Need a free-spinning wheel? We have that too. Who needs tactile resistance? FEATUREZ FEATUREZ FEATUREZ.

Lol.

+1 for Deathadder.. its designed for palm grip but its suprisingly good for clawgripping as well. i switch to claw grip when i zoom in on crysis 2. Also, sphex is a good choice, but.... it will wear out your mouse feet much faster than a cloth pad. Just so you know. mine lasted 2 years before it weared off. heavy usage. Also, you can order online for replacement feets if ever they wear out.

I've noticed some people tend to use the Deathadder as the go-to example for claw grip. It's so ergonomical though that you can put your palm really anywhere on the mouse, and it works sublimely for any grip type.

Edit: Also, one more thing: since the Deathadder is optical, optical mice are exceptionally accurate but only on the right surface. I'd highly recommend a nice fabric/microfiber mousepad, such as the QcK+ or really anything from Steelseries.

I actually got a hold of someone who has both the mx518 and the G9 (met him at my last lan) and he recommended the deathadder which suprised me ... he said that Logi's are great mice but only if u are used 2 the brand ... and he said that they are large mice mostly for palming ...

I am using a hard mouse pad at the moment ... the CMSTACKER (cooler master) ... that thing kills my mouse feet ... but really ... I don't mind because I am gettin a new mouse ... ... and the feet can be replaced ... Yay Razer ... lol ...

Good to know ... at least there is a mouse that is user friendly ... maybe I will find palming better ... who knows ...

Does that mean the Sphex is out and I should go for the Goliathus Speed instead ???

They may look/feel nice, but their drivers are the worst ever.....
Wanna explain why?

The driver thing worries me now ... is this a legit problem or just 1 person who doesn't like the drivers ...
Most likely PEBKAC. I personally wouldn't recommend the DA for a claw grip though.

G9x, Xai, or CM spawn are much better choices for your grip

I'd avoid the Sphex for any mouse; a piece of paper taped to your desk would generally make a better mousepad. Optical can track well on paper and other flat, hard surfaces, but it will always track better and more reliably on cloth.
