my SLi just died?

Thread Starter
previously... I used two monitors with SLi setup and it worked just fine. Earlier today I tried to get 3D to work on my 3D monitor. (not my first time, I did it before). I tweaked around a bit but couldnt get 3D to work, but that's another story. The problem I have right now is that my computer isnt recognizing my SLi anymore. It only shows 1 GPU under device manager and everything else. Ive tried to re-install the latest driver, switched around the DVI plugs and restarted my computer ect ect.

What's going on?

edit: just did a system restore, didnt work either...

Take one of the cards out, and switch the PCI-e port of the other.
This will tell you if its GPU or PCI-e failing. (and which exactly)

If you have 1 card that works in both slots, and one that doesn't- its the card's fail.
If both cards work fine on one port, but fail on the other, its the mobo

Just to clarify

EDIT: Or if both cards work in both ports, just not in SLi, change your SLi bridge

This put card 2 in slot 1 leave the other card out of system boot up if it works its fine plays games ect

do the same thing for the other card

if it works its either a bad driver\\motherboard
reinstall drivers;;;] boot into windows/safe mode with 1 installed run driver sweeper restart reinstall drivers shutdown install other card reboot into windows

if that dont work it could be a faulty socket or mb

also try running only 1 card in the slot that isnt showing up then try the other card
post #5 of 8
test each card..thats the only way to check if they are dead..worse is one is dead or your bridge is crapping out..also isolate the board slots that could be a culprit too..

well, I still think it's too much of a coincidence for the card/motherboard to crap out at the same time I tweaked with them. I didn't think of doing an uninstall so I tried to uninstall the driver with driver sweeper then reinstall it again. and guess what, it worked! woot woot.

thanks for all the help guys.

yeah I reinstalled it but I didn't uninstall it first, i just ran the installer and somehow it never complained to me that it is already up to date.

now I just need to figure out why my 3D isnt working, when I turn it on it goes to the setup wizard but it looks like its showing me the red/blue version of 3D even though I didn't pick it.
