Zotac 9800GT Audio

Thread Starter
I have this card along with a P8P67 connected via HDMI. I've followed all the steps in this thread and considered posting there, but it seems dead. The only thing I didn't do was enable Digital I/O because I couldn't find it anywhere.

Also went into the bios and changed sound from SPDIF to HDMI, but still no dice.

Any ideas?

don't you need to connect some audio output cable thing to the 9800gt for that to work?

Well my two molex connects to the card and gives out 1 pin of SPDIF and 1 pin of GND. I connected the SPDIF to the correct one, but still no luck.

Since you're using a VGA cable, and have a spare DVI, just go with the DVI. You'll get the same picture as HDMI since they output the same video signal and you'll still have audio.

I did at one point, although I'm not sure what GND does or where to put it on the mobo. I've been doing some reading and I'm not sure if it's needed to output audio?

do you see the hd audio header on the mobo? it should look like this (-)(*)(-)(-)
the dashes are pins and the asterisk is a missing pin
you hook the gnd to the pin on the far right and the spdif to the pin next to that one

You need to connect both gnd and spdif to the mb, look in the mb manual if you don't know where to connect.
Then you need to check that the sound is enabled in nvidia control panel.
And choose the card to be the default playback device instead of your mb soundcard.
