3 monitors on 1 HD5750

Hello!

I´m having some issues with my monitor setup!

I´m running 2 HD5750´s atm and I want to use them in Crossfire mode with 3 monitors (2x 1920x1080 Monitors plus a Sony Bravio 40" Full HD TV).
The 5750 have 3 ports each: DVI, HDMI, DP.

Though it should be possible to run 3 monitors off one card (so I can use Crossfire), I can´t seem to get it to work!

Catalyst recognises all three monitors once plugged into one card - but I always have to disable one. And if I try to make display groups it´s also just showing double screen setups (I don´t want to use Eyefinity ´cause the TV is on the other side of the room . but it´s still weird!)
And Win 7 also recognises all 3 Monitors.

I´ll have to add I´m running Win 7 Professional 64Bit, Catalyst Version is 11.2 and DirectX 11.
And a passive DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (which - according to the manufacturere - supports HDMI 1.3c; 2560x1440p).

For now I´m just running 1 Monitor off the first 5750 and the second one + the TV (duplicated) off the second 5750.

Anyone experinced this problem or knows a solution?

Thanks in advance! smile.gif

Youll need an active one. The passive ones dont necessarily work. You may also wanna try extended mode over eyefinity.

Thanks for the response!

That´s what I feared tongue.gif as those actvive adapters are quite expensive!
If the passive adapter doesn´t work a simple DP to HDMI cable wouldn´t fix the problem, right?

And for eyefinity: I don´t want to use it, I just mentioned it because it´s only showing options for 2 displays (though 3 monitors are recognised). And because I can make a display group with whatever monitor on whatever connector I want - just only 2 monitors. Just the 3rd monitor/connector wouldn´t work.

Well, after doing tons of interwebs research and reading - (which I should´ve done earlier mad.gif) I´ve found this:

• A maximum of 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) can be enabled simultaneously, provided that each monitor is connected either directly or via a “passive” DisplayPort™ adapter/dongle. “Passive” adapters/dongles will NOT support more than 2 legacy monitors.
• To enable support for more than 2 monitors, “active” DisplayPort™ adapters/dongles are required (or monitors with direct DisplayPort™ connectivity must be used).
Taken from AMD´s Eyefinity Validated Dongles Homepage.

But is this enough confirmation to spend another 100€ on a active dongle?
Would it also work in a non Eyefinity setup?
Like 1 (main desktop) 2 (extended desktop) 3 (TV; duplicted desktop 1)

It´s quite confusing that AMD/ATI show a pic of a passive DP to DVI dongle on their Set-Up-Guide confused.gif

Hope this will also help other people with similiar problems!

Can someone confirm if one of these ACTIVE DP to DVI adapters will solve the problem:

The first one will be perfect since it's eyefinity validated:
