P67 + bootable USB = fail?

So, I'm having all sorts of issues getting windows to install on my P67 rig. After numerous attempts, I wanted to do a Secure Erase on my SSD. I used the procedure here to erase my Vertex on my old system (AMD 770). I didn't do anything to the 2 GB USB flash drive that was bootable, using this procedure, but for some reason I can't get my P67 rig to recognize it. Even after I disable all other boot options in UEFI. Could I try disconnecting all the drives from the SATA ports, then attempt booting off the USB stick?

you could try that but then you wouldnt have anydrives to install onto.... and would probably destroy your drive by plugging it in after starting the PC... I would suggest a bios update but the board is brand new. Try installing from a DVD?

My Windows DVD is bricked, I have to have my friend reburn it (I have the product key).

This is strictly about having the P67 board recognize and boot from a USB flash drive...I'm baffled by this.

Funny you should mention that, i'm actually reformatting and re-usb-bootable'ing this drive as I type this

There's a procedure on here that I'm trying: Bootable USB Flash Drive on OCN

Then I'll test the stick

TTT, I reformatted and reinstalled FreeDOS on three different USB sticks, and none of them were recognized by my AsRock P67 board. Works fine on other computers...do I need a new(er) distro of a DOS program?

Update - once the boards drivers were installed, it worked just fine
