Shall I get the TX750 ?

One of my friends is selling his corsair TX750, I believe it is about one year old. He is downgrading his system so has offered to take my VX450 plus some lil cash for his TX750. Its a very good deal for me ......... all I want to know is, info on its quality. I have never handled that particular psu myself so need your help. Rep+ to the best replies.

You said one year old so most likely it is a CWT unit. It isn't the top tie PSU but considered pretty sold. 60a/720w on 12v, plenty of power for your rig. Just wait a bit, I am sure many gurus here will provide more info than I do.

That’s a very good power supply if he’s giving it to you for your old one and a few bucks. That Corsair comes with a 5-year warranty so you would have 4 more years of no worries. In reviews that PSU was rated better than some highly-regarded 850W PSU. Sure it’s been around a few years but it’s a good unit.

Pros:

- Unreal performance
- Price
- Long Cables
- Quiet
- 5-year warranty
- Four 8-pin PCI-E connectors

Cons:

- Not modular. (is that really a con?)

It's a quality unit, reliable and performs decently. There's nothing "unreal" about its performance like the above poster suggested, in fact it's pretty boring by modern standards, with so-so voltage regulation and fairly high ripple at 12V, but nothing you would experience at the kind of load your system is putting on the PSU.

The TX750 is just painfully average. Unless you need the extra watts for a near-future upgrade I wouldn't do it.

Anyone who states that there is something wrong with the TX750 is misinformed.

I've had one for 2 years. Never had any problems with it; it's pretty awesome.
