Best <$90 RAM for me?

Thread Starter
Check out my signature rig.
I'm far from an expert on RAM, but I'm in the market for some. I am trying to future proof as much as possible.
I am able to overclock, but I'm quite the noob.
My CPU will be overclocked to 4ghz and I want to overclock my NB pretty high as well.

I game (highest settings) and have usually 4 programs open. I have no clue how many Gbs I need.

Different people feel different ways... I happen to like G.Skill, and for a 4Ghz OC' probably looking at 1600 at a minimum, I suspect the common answer will be 2000 as a future proof.

Not all RAM will overclock well, as far as I can tell theres no way of being able to predict how well it will overclock based on specs.
Also, its not all about the speed of the ram, the CAS latency and timing play an important role as well.

How much RAM are you looking to get and how much do you want to spend?

I don't understand how 2000MHz is any more future proof than 1600MHz. You can get a CPU way beyond 4.0Ghz with 1600. And by the time CPUs can do 5 or 6GHz+ we'll all be using DDR4 RAM wouldn't we?

ninja edit: whoops amd forum lol.

I'm no exactly sure how much I need. I game on highest settings for all my games, and browse the web. I often have 3 or four tabs open in internet explorar.
I want to keep it around $70 but if there is a $90 set you guys say i MUST have, then I'l get that.

Well for you you need to stop using internet exploder, haha

I get away fine on 4Gb, it may be worth it to go to 8 with some of these more intense games, but Im not sure because I dont play any of the new really graphics intensive games.

Im running Corsair 1600 ram, I think it offers good performance (you probaly pay a il extra for the brand), but Im not sure if I could overclock it. Ive heard that I cant, but I havent tried myself.

Start with 4 Gig of this ram and you can add 4 Gig later. Or spend the extra $30 and get all 8 Gig. But you should be fine gaming on 4 Gig.

http://www.overclock.net/online-deal...0-off-all.html

Newegg currently has 10% off all RAM. You could pick up any set of 2x4gb 1600 c9 RAM and be done with it.

Examples:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231314

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104173

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-324-_-Product

All of those will run you exactly $90 shipped, and two of those have $15 MIRs.

I'd personally go with the Ripjaws, due to the lower voltage, thus more overclocking headroom.
