changing mobo, no thermal compound :(

Thread Starter
getting a new mobo tomorrow an i completly forgot to get some thermal compund, an now i cant afford it cause i have to pay extra shipping an i only have about £1 in the bank now, so when i put my cpu off my old mobo and put it on my new mobo i will have to remove heatsink breaking the thermal compund which i imagine has dryed up by now, so will this result in high temps? i am on stock so am used to high 60's load thanks

Wait to switch till you have thermal compound. Particularly if you are using the stock cooler.

Ahhh haha! Please post back. Give us some temps!

I would actually use nothing and run stock and not do any gaming if it was mine.

Oh, and underclock that badboy.

really is it that bad, i read an article on using vaseline and toothpaste, my gf lives near aria and she is coming to mine tonight so i might just get her to drop by there and grab me some thermal compound, failing that i am going tooth paste an vaseline or nothin
problems: i hard toothpast is corrosive, also how often would i need to change the paste, and my cpu would be just fine with no paste would it?
thanks
