Wait 'till benchmarks are out to make that assumption.

They will be clocked lower to meet PCI-E specs, but these cards can always be put under water and overclocked even @ 800 core they would shine.

First off the GTX 590 is most likely two GTX 580's down clocked or maybe not, we'll have to wait and see. Who really knows other than 3Gb's on board memory on GF110 card is the only solid info we have thus far, which would indicate 580's.

As for the post question: Yes, I will be getting one as long as EVGA allows the GTX 580 to GTX 590 step up before April 16th.

Secondly, I prefer single card solution even if it's a dual GPU over SLI or crossfire configuration. Less hassle.

However having said that when it comes out if it's anything less than down clocked 580's or more expensive than two single GTX 580's then I will not get one and buy a second GTX 580 instead and deal with SLI for raw performance.

Those waiting for Kepler or Maxwell....close to December 2011 is a long wait. I predict mid November for Nvidia 600 series and AMD 7000 series line ups start to trickle out. *Arizonian puts away crystal ball*

Just seen it before...theres always compromises on these dual GPU cards...

-edit- and i only ended up with a GTX570 in my new rig because of future proofing and also because i dont feel like tearing into my current one to salvage my 460...
Two 570's OC SLI wont beat out two slightly down clocked 580's but will be very comparable I'm sure.

Two AMD 6950's (even unlocked) won't beat two down clocked 580's. A GTX 580 beats the 6970 in raw performance. The AMD 6970 is sligthly better than a GTX 570 in comparison. In every benchmark, the GTX 580 runs higher FPS except where more than two monitors are being used. AMD runs three plus monitors better than Nvidia.

Now that I am back down to a GTX 460, I question why I had to upgrade so much. Of course it was 90% psychological. I had to get the latest and greatest.

The hardest part of it all was accepting the fact that I won't be able to run Crysis at 80 FPS anymore. It took a really long time to accept this fact. It sounds stupid but I am sure some of you can relate.

Then one day, my car's LSD broke down, and I had to sell my GTX 580's. However, it may have been the greatest thing to happen to me in a while lol.

I found out though, I can run every game that I could run before. All I had to do was lower the settings in a few games. Most of the time, I could not tell the difference between the highest graphical settings and just high settings (no AA/AF). I wish I found this out years ago and I am proud to say that I wont be spending 700 dollars and getting the GTX 590.

Yea, I agree. I tend to wait for the latest greatest and get one or two notches down from the top (depending on how much of a bottleneck the rest of my system is). started w/ a 9800GTX+ in this system, then went to a GTX275 and finally a 560. Now I need to upgrade my CPU though.

Bulldozer + Kepler (assuming it's not crazy hot like the 470/80 were) or whatever ATi's next card is.

Nope, don't have the money and am happy with the solution I have right now.

If only if only it beat even SLI 570s. It would be worth it..
Sadly it wont, and wont be.

I was but decided my 480 is enough, decided to get a 180GB SSD instead.

It's really frustrating to see hardly any info on the 590 out when the 6990 is just around the corner (next Tuesday). I wonder why NVidia is delaying the release of at least the info on the cards so much when people who are ready to buy the best graphics card out there. If NVidia doesn't come out with some solid info next week, they will lose a lot of customers to the AMD 6990 which is an absolute monster.
