ok....so i want to get my first touchscreen phone xD (i no..im a bit late xD)

but anyways.

i cant exactly decide which 1 to get =/

ive seen the iPhone 3gs, friend says its good, installed like 300 apps and it still doenst lagg (even had like 50 apps open ...didnt even realise that he could close it.)

iPhone 4? heard there was problems with it...dno about this 1.

nexus S? another friend has this too..apparently it uses most its battery on its display 0.o?
the battery went down to 66%...after 5-6 hrs (charged fully in morning). because of display screen and some music. tho i dunno about lagg. since my friend recently bought it.
kinda wierd.

anyone can help me?

ok, firstly this is true for nearly every phone with a touch screen, its just how it goes. Secondly, you seem to be clueless about phones so I'll give you a rundown on some of the types of phones you can get:

iOS- only available on ipod touches and iphones, generally considered a barebones OS but still has some lacking features that other OS's have.

Android: probably the fastest growing OS in history, its only been around for 2 to 3 years and it has a bigger market share than blackberry. It is a stable OS and works well but its open sourced, which is good and bad for us. Firstly it allows us to do whatever we want to the OS, but on the flip side carriers and manufacturers can do whatever they want to try and stop it.

Windows Mobile 7: Very sleek and fast OS, very easy to pick up and surprisingly almost fun to use. The lack of any modding to the OS holds it back though.

That should be everything you need to know, tell us which ones you'd prefer and we can go from there

Your not alone. I just got my first smartphone a few weeks ago (iPhone 3GS 8 gig).

A lot depends on what you want to do. If you just want a nice phone and don't plan to mess with it much, an iPhone works very well for that. I really don't care for Apple, but the iPhone is nice and has tons of apps. I even bought one for my wife I liked it so much. You can even jailbreak it and run even more stuff and have more control over it. My biggest gripe about the iPhone is itunes. Worst virus program ever. It was very clunky and hard for me to figure out. I mean really, why can't I just drag and drop?
As for which iPhone, you need to decide what you need. The iPhone 4 does have dropped call issues (not as big a deal as some make it out to be, and is solved by getting a case), but has some features the 3GS is missing.

If you really want to tweak and mess with the phone, Android phones are the way to go.

Their are also Windows 7 Mobil phones out now, but I don't know much about them.

also, smartphones eat battery power, some last a little longer than others, but it is not like regular phones where you could go for a week with light useage on a single charge. Turning off wi-fi and wireless when not used helps, but plan on charging it daily 9if not more often).

ic..thanks for the advice =)

well...from my point, id probably choose between the 3gs and nexus really..

iPhone 3GS 32GB...£300-£350 (looks worth it considering its cheap
Nexus 16GB...........£400-£450 (i guess its okay, in the middle range)
iPhone 4G 32GB.....£500-£700 (dont think il spend that much =/)

surely looking at the price and the memory storage, ..the 3gs is the best choice...

but..i dno what to decide on =/.

whats the difference between getting apps from each of OS? e.g.do u have to pay for iOS apps?

the OS?...mm...never thought about that 1....but i guess i dont mind? xD considring this is my first time getting a smartphone. i guess it will depend on how long i use it. =/
i plan on getting this before i go uni. so do you think il have the time to mess around? xD
il probably take programming as a course, think it will benifit me with an adroid phone?

so basically:
il be using the phone to call ..text ...etc xD
use the camera when out and about...with friend etc =)
use phone to play music (most of the day) =D
and watch some movies every once in a while

what do you suggest i buy? xD

o yh if i eva get it..it will probably stay with me for 2-3years =/

@blupupher:

really? is it good/fun to use?? but why did u get the 8GB? not alot of storage is there =/

Every OS has paid apps and free apps, currently iOS has the most apps, followed closely by android and then win mo 7 which is a long way behind.

I think it depends what you are going to use it for more than anything. And yes you will have time to tinker at uni so don't worry about that.

Will you ever think about tinkering with it? That is the biggest deciding factor on whether you should go with android, winmo 7 and iOS.

Pretty much every current phone will be reasonably up to date in that time, we aren't making as many improvements compared to over the last decade.

GET THE iPHONE 4.

I really cannot stress this enough.

The iPhone 4 is Ivy Bridge 8-core @ 6.0Ghz vs iPhone 3GS's Pentium 4.

iPhone 4 is SUCH a jump in quality, it's like going from a rat-infested apartment in Harlem to a 5-bedroom duplex on Central Park.

And it's not THAT much more expensive.

I personally detest Apple, but the iPhone 4 was so good, I just bought it a week after its release. It's a work of art.

I know, its a daunting process isn't it, always scared of getting a phone at the wrong time, I seem to have been pretty lucky though (my last phone was a motorola V3x, its screen keeps up with the best of todays phones for clarity).

Ok, I'll provide a summary of which phones you probably should get, and the reasons why:

HTC HD2: The ultimate tinkers phone, can run everything from android to windows 7 (with a few other OS's inbetween). If you are a tinkerer you should get this without a doubt. Available apps are pretty much negligible since you have so may OS's to choose from.

Iphone 4: If you want a simple to use interface with a good range of apps this is a good choice, but with apple trying to stop jailbreakers it isn't as much of a tinkers phone(compared to the HD2 or nexus S).

Nexus S: If you like to tinker, but are fine with sticking to just one OS (android). Since its googles flagship phone it will be the first to get updates and it will be a popular phone (you will get devs making roms left right and center for it). Available apps are extensive but fall short of the iphone (only by a bit though).

HTC HD7: The anti-tinkers phone really, the interface is super-slick, very nice to use and almost fun to have. The problem is that modding is almost impossible at this current time (yes there is development but its nowhere near the level of android). THe apps available are rather small so if you are looking for an app to do anything you want you should look at android or the iphones. This will be the perfect phone if you don't plan to tinker, if you are planning to though look elsewhere.

Hope that helps
