The biggest difference for the Nexus S is that it does not have a micro sd card slot.

iphone for the more quality apps. More businesses are willing to write apps for iphone and not the android. Since you are in UK, for example Tesco has an app for iPhone and even win phone 7 but not the android OS.

Businesses are more willing to support the iPhone than android due to also haveing 1 form factor to cater to.

I went from a Desire to an iphone 3GS to a HD7. HD7 is great hardware wise and OS wise but the lacks of apps is depressing me (9000 apps only) but it has been around for only 4-5 months.

If you do want the latest and greatest wait for the new round of android phones coming out such as the LG optimus 2X with nvidia tegra chipset (or is it the Optimus 3D and Black).

really? is it good/fun to use?? but why did u get the 8GB? not alot of storage is there =/
I really enjoy it (a lot more than I though I would). Real easy to figure out (my 5 and 8 yr old have the basics of it figured out in a few hours). Wife also got it figured out quickly, and she is a bit of a technophobe.
Their are tons of free apps (many free ones are add supported, but adds don't run if you don't have an internet connection on most, and some free apps are stripped down versions of the paid with nag screens to upgrade). I have only paid for 1 app so far (Bookworm for my wife).
As for why the 8gig, well, it was $20 for a refurb on contract with AT&T, and I just don't need much space. I mean 8 gigs is a ton of space im my opinion. Right now my phone still has 3.1 gb free space, and this is with 72 apps, 16 video clips, 2 movies and about 70 pictures. I don't use the phone as a music player. If I did, then larger storage would be a plus. As is, 2-3 gigs of music is a lot I could add if I wanted to.
My only real gripe about the iPhone (aside from iTunes that I mention before) is the lack of expandable memory. I mean really, how hard is it to add micro SD capability?

iphone 4 faster and the best phone camera ever, imo, take a look @ the videos on vimeo and flickr.

It will also be supported the longest as it just came out. Otoh my ipod touch 2nd Gen is supported till 4.21 doesn't suck and runs fine so if your broke get the older iphone.

By supported the longest, you mean supported as long as they absolutely have to before ditching it. The original iPhone and iPhone 3G have all but been left behind in the support department, so it's not far-fetched to think the iPhone 4 will be in the same situation in a couple years. My sister is still using some ancient version of iOS on her 3G because v4 essentially turned her phone into a paper-weight.

Though that didn't have any impact on my decision to buy a iPhone 4, since I will probably not have it for much longer than a year.

As far as what I'd recommend, well, the iPhone 4 is -really- good. Screen is amazing, camera works really well, it's fast, the app market is by far the best of any OS (Android is -seriously- lacking here, anyone who says otherwise is just wrong). The only real downsides are that you can't do much in the way of customizing/messing with anything (I know very little about jailbreaking/etc.), it doesn't have true multitasking, and it misses out on a few features like expandable memory/etc.

The 3GS is pretty much the same thing but without the high-res screen and good camera.

Overall, though, they're both -very- solid phones, and I'm sure you'd be very happy with either.
Android I can't really comment on, other than playing around with my girlfriend's Droid and (as I said above) being exposed to the horrendous Android Market. I did really like the OS though, and while I'd definitely want to play around with one first, it has me thinking a Xoom might be in my future.

-problems should have been fixed by now lol ...so no issues anymore i thiink =)
-also..no tinkering. but its no issue. il prob use internet more than trying to tweak the OS. xD

def. looking forward to getting it xD

now i just gotta wait till june so it goes down on price =)

other smartphones..not interested really. since the best smartphones are iPhone and Nexus ..i think.

Here are a few quick links I found on google, since I'm curious about it myself, as I'd never really given it much thought.

I say the HTC HD7, seriously consider it (in some ways its superior to the iphone). There are win mo 7 emulators around so it may be worth a shot giving it a go before buying, you may prefer it (and in my opinion the screen is much nicer than the iphone 4's and the OS is 100x easier to use).

I believe she should try to update to the 4.21, the slowness happened and then they took out the features that were causing it on older hardware.

I'm glad your enjoying the iphone 4. Besides all the other advantages we all mentioned (all true) Apple seems to have put a lot more energy into battery life and technology. If your doing the same things it seem that you get much better battery time on iPhone vs other platforms. This is why I'm actually glad that unless your adventurous, you send the phone to apple to replace the battery.
