AMD 1055t x6 overclock (first time)

Thread Starter
Hi, I am for the first time ever attempting an overclock. I know this CPU is capable of 3.7 and higher with adaquate cooling but I can't get it past 3.3 unstable and 3.15 stable, I should pretty much just keep the turbo on and run it at 3.3 when needed. So I want to hit 3.5 and higher. I will list my settings and my hardware. Also I have seen people clock it to 3.5 on the internet with no voltage increases and stock cooling. So I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Hardware:

AMD 1055t 2.8Ghz-3.3Turbo CPU
OCZ Special Ops Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 RAM
Coolermaster hyper 212+ CPU cooling
Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H motherboard
(if you need something else ask)

BIOS:

CPU Clock x14 @3150Mhz
CPU NB freq x10 @2250Mhz
CPU freq 225
HT Link freq x10 @2250Mhz
Memory Clock x6.66 @1499Mhz
RAM timing 8-8-8-24 (recommended on box)
CPU voltage control +0.050V =1.3750V

Everything else hasn't been touched. All I have done is taken off turbo and quiet and cool. So if I didn't have a number for something it is set to normal or auto depending on what it is. Thanks, Please help me out. I'm sure it is something small I am forgetting to edit.

Try a x9 multi in CPU NB freq and HT link and keep pumping the FSB up.

Alright I mean I have tried this in the past I have got it all the way to 3.3Ghz it will run but once it has a load for more than 30 mins it just dies and to obtain the 3.3Ghz I have to push it to about 1.45V which just seems high for barely passing what I could turbo. FSB is the CPU multiplier right? Is there something I should try to keep the NB and HTlink near?
HT near 2000, and NB as highest.

Just a question, your ram is rated 1600 MHz CAS 8 @ 1.65V, is your ram voltage at 1.65 or 1.5, sometimes mobo's will default to 1.5 but check to make sure.

Yes I was wondering about that. It is 1.530V it comes up in red whenever I put it to 1.65 so I was scared of frying something being a noobie to overclocking. Should I go ahead and set it to that?

No, FSB is the CPU freq. Keep HT Link close to 2000MHz and CPU NB up to 2600MHz for now.

Here you can see some OCs on Thubans from some members of this forum:

You won't fry it if it is recommended to run it at 1.65V

1.65v is what your ram is rated to run at that speed and that CAS so running it on 1.5v, it's limited your overclock as your mem won't clock that high with 1.5v, your ram is safe to run at 1.65v.

You should reduce your HT, NB, and RAM multiplier anyhow to test the highest overclock of your cpu and of course keep an eye on your temp and voltage, and stability with LINX or Prime

Thanks I am going to go try everything out now. I will get back to you two on how it turns out.

Keeping you posted I am currently testing at 3.37Ghz which is higher than I have ever been I am doing 10 min tests and uping my FSB in increments of 5 each time. So far everything has been stable. Exactly where should I stop? Once my temps start to get a bit too high, and exactly where is high for me? Once I get it to where I want it I plan on throwing down a 10 hour test of prime.
