I benched my mobo following the instructions and didn't find an issue. In fact, it cold-booted without issues.

Maybe they're different RAMs Ronin.

Sounds like a boot order issue. Is your system set to boot from CD-ROM first? That could be your problem. Set your primary HDD to the first boot device, followed by whatever you feel like.

Hopefully you're right!!!!

My first boot device wasn't the CD-ROM but it was an external hard drive. I've no idea why it would have changed. I haven't altered it in the BIOS but a while ago all my drives did change their letters. Very annoying going through disk management and re-assigning / juggling the letters until everything's back where it should be.

Would drive letters inside the OS affect the BIOS? Perhaps this suggests so.

I hadn't even thought to check the boot order.

My mobo also has a LED Poster which can display the temps / fan speeds / voltages etc. Recently this reset to showing the time (default) instead of temps... a dying CMOS battery or a sign of something worse? My BIOS is up to date.

I'm off out. I'll turn off my PC and see if it starts first time in a couple of hours wiht the correct boot drive order.

Thanks a lot all. Reps to all replies.
