So I feel like dropping 300 bucks on my rig...

Thread Starter
Should I upgrade my graphics card or get a new CPU(along with a motherboard obviously) for better gaming performance? I've really been wanting an i5 lately.

I have an athlon II x4 635 and gtx 460 768mb right now...

I really like to play Dragon Age Origins which drops to like 40 FPS in large areas and combat and I heard that's a pure CPU bottleneck =/

Dragon age runs physx on the CPU so yeah... Its probably hammering your cpu pretty hard. Pretty much anything short of an overclocked i5 760 will be a bottleneck for the game sadly.

are you referring to nvidia physX? Or what? I don't think dragon age even has a physics engine...at least I don't see any physics going on in it.

Yes it runs very basic nvidia PhysX off the cpu only.

Literal answer: Drop 3 $100 bills on top of the case.

I would grab another 460 and SLI it. For most games you will see a bigger boost in performance then a CPU upgrade. If you are still using the stock CPU cooler you can use the leftover coin to upgrade that too.

EDIT: You would have to do the SLI hack . . .

Motherboard's been pretty stable for me. Not sure what you're getting at. Even overclocking has worked very well.
