They do. Most Mac users will tell you they buy Macs because they want to get stuff done. I've had many an argument with people at work who want to keep using a Mac, which we don't allow anymore. To them, Windows is a mess and gets in the way of them being productive. In many ways they are exaggerating, but no more than idiots who compare Macs to hookers.
Clearly the 15 pages of this topic are comprised solely of comments that you deem constructive to this conversation, and contains no sarcastic references or outlandish analogies. I apologize profusely for leading such a focused topic as this one astray from the intended extolment of the glorious Apple products King Jobs has bequeathed to us.

Honestly though, if you're going to try to take the moral high-road and ridicule me for not being clever enough to satisfy your vast intellect, then don't end your post with a childish personal attack.

Exactly. Mac users have reasons why they use Macs. I've had discussions with some people about why they use a Mac, and I agree with them on many points. But to simply say "BECUZ ITS BETTAR!" without giving an actual reason as to why. There isn't anything wrong with Mac's at all! Nothing...they make good products. This goes for PC's too..and Android...to simply say something is better without being able to explain why...is kind of annoying. ><

There is always this love or hate relationship when talking about Mac or PC. You either Love one, or hate it. And then you love the other because you hate it. Why can't we *as nerds* just like both? I use and support both at work. It's good to have variety. I mean they both have ghz right?

Which is quite funny.. Apple's P/E is like 22 and Microsofts is 12, that means 2 companies with similar profits and only Microsoft pays dividends, so the clearly more valuable stock is Microsoft. Add in ExxonMobil which is the largest corporation in the world and probably will make 4x as much as Apple this year and is at a P/E of 13-14 and pays a dividend... yeah even the stock market is prone to the Apple hype!

That is a ridiculous argument though. If someone seriously can't figure out how to get work done on windows it's their issue, not windows. I can understand that the OS being simplified could be a benefit to some but to argue that it is inherently better because they can't understand an extremely simple OS like windows is just stupid. It may be better for them and I am fine if they say just that and don't act like a typical apple fanboy, but the issue is most apple fanboys will go on about how it is THE BEST no ifs ands or buts. It is the attitude of the apple fanboys that causes all these issues. I also realize there are people just as bad on the PC side but it seems like(to me at least) there is a far larger percentage of apple fanboys to the overall apple userbase than there are windows fanboys to the total windows userbase.

A little read on Market Cap. Its not a very good thing to base ones judgment of a company on. It really is only a measurement of the speculated market value. A better figure is enterprise value.

Also why would I want to own stock from a company that never pays a dividend?

My thoughts exactly.
Video editing, some people have to use i-movie or final cut. Since Apple is so overprotective of their software as to prohibit it's use on windows PC's such people buy macs so they can use such programs. There are some audio design and production programs that are the same way.

I guess this would be the main thing that turns me off to apple. There is nothing exclusive or unique about their hardware over a pc besides the styling, but they use their differentiating software as a means to sell us overpriced hardware. If they were to man up and sell their softwares for PC I would not have a problem with them

There are some Apple only apps, but there are alternatives on the PC. Furthermore, the mass majority of those people never use Final Cut Pro or any of those other apps. It is just blind pride and the inflexibility more than anything.

There are many alternatives though. I can't say I have first hand experience with all of them but I have heard from plenty of people that they work just as well as the mac exclusive programs.

i'm not disagreeing that their are alternatives that work just as well.

Certainly anything you can do on a mac you can find a way to do better on a PC. For whatever reason though mac's have earned a reputation for artsy stuff and that's what people learn on and think they have to use.
