I'm using the fan it came with. The scythe slipstream or whatever it is. Its just pushing air thru the fins. No fan setup for pulling

Get a H70 and it'll be much cooler than your air cooler. Trust me.

I guess you could definitely see around 3-4C difference by adding a second fan. BTW, AS-5 needs curing time. You might see better temp later as well.

I have a 870 running at 4.02GHz with weird ram timings...(the stock proc. timings of 200x20 are unstable for me but I found a way that it works out for me... my bclk for the processor is 167.5x24multi). The 870's do run hotter than other processors like the i5 750 and the i7 920's. If you haven't already done so, just turn off HT. It'll lower your temps like 8C. Not many programs use HT, so you don't really need it. Don't lap your processor... it voids warranty and if you just so happen to fry it, you wont be able to send it back. I am cooling mines with an H50 though, so you might want to upgrade your processor heatsink. Temps for me running LinX @ 21C ambient give 79C (73C avg.) max on one core and about 35C@ idle. Oh and use something other than AS5... AS5 is outdated.... there are lots of other pastes that have no cure time and work better. Most of those pastes are nonconductive also which is a plus as AS5 is not. If youre going to get an H50 though, leave the thermal paste it comes with as the one it comes with is shin-etsu.

Makes me really wish I hadn't bought the big tube of as5 and this heatsink on a spur. Guess I got too excited lol. I'll try reseating it again.
