How do I increase Minecraft's memory limit?

Apparently the default limit is about 550Mb, which really isn't enough. How do I increase that limit?

You can change the allocated memory in the Java section of your control panel to increase it

1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. Java icon
4. Java Tab
5. Click on view
6. Under parameters add "xmx512m" (without the quotes)
7. You can change the 512 to whatever you want the allocated memory to be

PROTIP: You can change the allocated memory in the source code if you wish, but this requires you to have an understanding of Java programming and a compiler and have the linux version on minecraft.

EDIT:
Or just be pro an do it this way, works much better.

Either that didn't work, or my Minecraft problem has nothing to do with RAM usage.

Download Bukkitcraft to make it a lot easier for you.
Then when your setting up Bukkitcraft, it should be obvious how to change the ram number.
(Tell me if you still need help, even after installing it).

Is Bukkit the same thing as Bukkitcraft? I can't find anything called Bukkitcraft.

Also, does Bukkit allow HD graphics mods?

There you go, .

Also, "HD graphic mods"...Only affect you, no one else...
There also not mods, there texture packs.
Silly goose.
