Auto Fan control with AB?

Thread Starter
I have auto fan control on, but does AB need to be started and then minimized? because with it started, when i run 3dmark11 i hear the fan speed up, if its not started, fan doesnt speed up and im afraid it will overheat.

If it is on auto you wont need to have AB running. If you have a custom profile it has to be running.

To make it work correctly, you will need AMD overdrive in CCC disabled. Then go to AB and set your custom fan profile. Set AB to start with window minimized. And you will be set.
If for some reason you need AMD overdrive enabled and yet have a custom fan profile, there will be a minor annoyance as AB and AMD Overdrive does not play nice. Set your fan speed to, say, 60% in AMD overdrive. Then set a custom profile in AB. On windows start, the fans will start whirling at 60%, but as soon as AB starts up, it will go back down to your custom profile. Now, not always will this happen - sometimes the fan will just keep whirling at 60%. All you need to do is open up AB, apply your custom profile, minimize it - like I said minor annoyance even though it takes no more than 30 seconds.

ok, well the fan profile thing is on default, but when AB runs it makes the fan go, why is that? AB doesnt use GPU. Its at 50% and im not benching or playing games and AB is on. CCC overdrive is Disabled.

Set the manual fan control in CCC to enabled and then set it to the lowest level that you want the fan speed to start from. If your lowest setting in AB is 30% then set the CCC level to 30%.

In my experience, for AB fan control to work, you need to have CCC fan control set to manual. I'm guessing this unlocks it for AB to use.
