The bigger the phone screen the easier it is to crack. But I keep my large touch screen HTC and nothing has happened *touch wood*
The thing is though he'd done nothing to damage it, it was in his pocket during a class with the screen facing to his leg (they should be designed to take that).

lesson: Don't spend a fortune on a device that, 4 years from now, won't even be worth a quarter of that pricetag, especially when you're skint anyway.

I regretted buying a Quad Extreme for the exact same reason. Even then i wouldn't even dream of spending a similar sum of cash on a phone, that could easily get damaged or stolen.

little update - went into the place i purchased it from, they're not taking it in cause of the damaged screen, ill give nokia a call up tomorrow and go on about the consumers act and say how it could be damaged because it was display model, and it carnt of been dropped as there is no physical damage apart from the screen. so yea, thats my plan.

Did you explain to them exactly how it happened? That is the most important part, it should be able to take that sort of abuse (or lack of). Nokia might be able to do something, if not department of fair trading. If you explain everything and be courteous and patient they should be able to help you.

Nokia should take it back, if not fair trading will handle it for you. It shouldn't break like that.
