ASRock underrated?

Thread Starter
I've always been skeptical about this company, but seeing my buddy having one of those X58 Extremes is quite interesting. Yes, the full name is indeed ASRock X58 Extreme (1366), no more numbers. It was a very cheap board when he bought it if I remember correctly. However, out of curiosity I took a look at the specs and wow, for that price the specs were pretty amazing. Reviews seems to be liking it as well.

The board itself isn't exactly new, but it opened my eyes regarding ASRock, might check it out next time I'm buying! What about you, any experiences with them?

Exactly how does that answer my question? ASRock might be Asus, yes, but last I checked ASRock didn't have very good rep, which Asus does have.

Asrock is the budget side of asus
Seems with 1155 they have very comparable performance / quality except that the ASRocks are cheaper. Am I wrong?

WRONG WRONG WRONG!

ASRock and Asus share the same production facility, and that's it. Get this into your noggins.

ASRock make quality boards for excellent prices these days, I haven't seen any stories about 700/800 series boards bursting into flames like Gigabyte and MSI ones. If you can link me to one, please do, I'm keen to see.

Asrock is not Asus. Call them and ask if they are. I'm pretty sure you get a no answer. Asrock is a separate company that was spun off from Asus years ago.

They probably have one of the better feature/cost offerings on the market.
Have been using them in people's builds since 754 (they even had a 754/939 combo board) and haven't really had any problems.

At the upper echelon of overclocking, I'd likely pass, though.
