OK, we'll learn together. smile.gif

IMHO the Corsair drives are far superior to the OCZ drives no matter what interface.

Don't bother purchasing one of those $30.00 expansion cards because they destroy more than they give.

Your ICH10 chipset is more than adequate for a quality Crucial SSD.

I've had 9 SSDs and can assure you that the Crucial C300 series is quality.

I purchased an LSI 9240-4i card and it works well on my Crucial 256GB C300 drive.

It doesn't matter if you want/need RAID or not.

I couldn't find any SATA 6GB/s cards that were an improvement over an Intel ICH10.

Save your money for a new MB or prepare to spend @ 200.00.

I have a friend with an old AMD MB and Fry's has a
Corsair 90GB Force 3 Series Solid State Drive (SSD) - CSSD-F90GB3-BK on sale for $100 AR. The SSD is supposed to read and write at 500+ MBps. What kind of speed reduction will my friend see running through a PCI Sata rev.3 card? Have any idea?

P.S. Are you the same "Old Hippie" that was on Usenet ten years ago?

Way tooo many variables for me to give an estimate.

I'm still on Usenet but 10 or more years ago I was into the Audio/Video/Fireworks/Rollercoaster/Drug/Aquarium groups while nowadays I download music/programs from the Binary groups.

I've seen others using 'Old Hippie' but I use the same name everywhere I can.

AAR, I really don't know what the outcome will be.
