[TR] HP dm1z Review - 11.6" E350 Ultraportable - Page 5

I wanted to buy a used MBA, its just too expensive for a new one. This looks promising, despite not being "elite".

vs.

Never mind that HP just seems to be copying Apple design left right and center.

Also, with an AMD in it, the HP isn't running circles around anything.

HP has been copying Apples design. I suppose its their "strategy" for now. If you can't beat them... So far so good, Envy is selling like hotcakes. This thing does look kind of cheap though (ugly hinge!!!) then again the thick screen border on MBA is ugly and cheap looking -> either thin border or black.

Andandtech put it well:

"While $999 is much more affordable than the previous generation MacBook Air, it’s at least $400 more than you would expect to pay for a notebook with these hardware specs. We’re talking about 2GB of memory, a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo CPU with 3MB L2 cache and an NVIDIA GeForce 320M integrated graphics chipset."

There is a 128GB SSD option, but that is an additional $290.
Sorry, wanted to clarify.

He said that his HDD was WD, while reviewer stated Hitachi.

HP's CoolSense actually seems to work well for keeping noise levels down. I wonder if it's available as a solo install, for those of us that format the drive...

Last I checked HPs envy line of laptops is being discontinued due to low sales...
