Also, possibly sidestepping this problem entirely, I'm not short on cash, but would I see any benefit in gaming getting a 1090t to other AMD offerings? Thanks.

the pii x4 965 is a great choice
most games wont any much difference between the x4 and x6

I heard the same about the bois and 6 core chips. My board overclocks to 4ghz just fine. My max temps at 4ghz only gets to 63c, but I just got an H50.

I currently have a H50 and I was interested in overclocking (not extreme)...
