bump tower, pc turns off

Thread Starter
this is odd and have noticed it a couple of times.

did some work on my tower and was rolling back into place, it turned off. the PS didn't come unplugged, all the cables on the back of the tower were secure.

few days ago, i bumped the tower, again it turns off.

i've replaced the PS (need to upgrade).
disabled the i/o panel on the front of the tower.

still seeing the same behavior.

could it be related to one of the screws that secures the mobo to the chassis being loose?

Sounds like you have a short some where in the case. It could be a mobo stand off is missing, loose wires, or any bare wires that could touch the case. Pinched wires too.

Yea definitely try running the system out of the case to see if it still restarts. If it doesn't, then you know you have a short somewhere. Most likely a screw floating around, or a wire that isn't shielded or something.
