I've just never really trusted Seagates. I have had three in my life and all three ran really hot. Hot even to the touch.

I think Seagate is a better deal. It us 2.5" form factor hdd vs. wd is 3.5". Seagate has a slimer profile and better performance.

I like Seagate and I have no problem what so ever.

Nice deal. Just don't know they could to California or not??

Hitachi external 2.5" 500GB for $2 more.

Personally I wouldn't trust this generation's batch of seagate or hitachi, but based on the reviews I'd trust seagate less. HDD prices keep dropping all the time, ~$60 for 500gb really isn't anything special.

Sometimes I wonder how low hdd pricing can go?? Right now it is about $1/gb, it may come down to $0.5/gb by end of 2011.

fyi, wd acquired hitachi storage division of 4.3 billion. It's easy to make money in the storage business.
