Someone besides the American People should have to pay for gross errors in judgment. (Unless of course NASA is paid for by someone else?)

My point is as follows....

When will the wasteful spending stop?

When will the STILL failing program(s) end?

When will we stop hearing about all the failures we have to pay for? (w/ tax money)

When will we stop having to pay for irresponsible & unaccountable foolishness?

Is it OK to just say "Whoops I guess I accidentally burned up 700 Million Dollars." ??

I mean come on....

This ____ has got to stop people, some time soon too, or am I just the only person who sees the problems at hand here?

Take a look at the chart I posted previously:

Fy2010_spending_by_category.jpg

Social Security 19.63%
Unemployment / Welfare / Other Mandatory Spending 16.13%
Medicare 12.79%
Medicaid & State Children's Health Insurance 8.19%

All programs designed to help the poor, starving, unfortunate, etc. Spending for those programs add up to just under 60% of yearly spending. That amounts to around $2T. How much difference do you really think adding $20B would make? That's a mere 1% drop in the bucket.

My teacher used an analogy of a Bath Tub to explain the situation...

He said, Social Security / Health Care / Unemployment, are three huge programs that cost a lot of money to uphold and is currently a huge problem...

A serious problem is there is no more money in the reserve for these programs, it was spent foolishly a long time ago...

So, instead of having a bath tub full of water, they are filling the bath tub with taxes paid today, or water if you will...

This is a great plan till hundreds of millions of Baby Boomers go to retire in 2010 - 2015!

When these baby boomers start drawing from the tub, which would be indicative to someone opening a whole in the bath tub, there will be more water going out of the tub than there is water going in...

We all know you can't fill a tub with a wholes in it, it will all just run out, and quickly.

So what can the government do to alleviate the situation?

They are printing trillions of dollars of course!

I'll let you dwell on that, I'm sure you are smart enough to figure it out...

Till then, on the Agenda will be "Programs that are going to have to be cut."

Well, I don't know what's going to get cut, but I'd bet you there will be less schools & teachers around, what do you want to bet on that?

NASA? Right....

We shall all see where this all goes eventually, but I'm thinking there will be serious repercussions, and though 700 million may be a drop in the bucket to some, and in the face of 10 Trillion Dollars, yeah it's truly chump change, but it is change none the less!

At some point people will wake up and say things like, "Man, what happened?" or "Who took my money?" or "Where did it all go?"

I just hope you aren't one of those people on the outside with your fist raised in the air screaming for justice!

Continuing along the lines of your teacher's analogy, what good would plugging 1% of the holes in the tub make?

There is NO plugging the wholes mate...

The wholes are entirely too many and many of them are simply too big...

If you just looked at what we pay for the retirement of Gov. Officials & Workers, you can quickly do the math and see for yourself that we are facing a problem much greater than our current generation will be able to even handle... (In paying taxes that is)

Make no mistake, lots of things are going to change, just how fast is the question...

I am watching intently for new laws & stuff on the agenda, like the new cut backs that are being presented as we chat in these forums...

Whoosh, the changes are coming, don't you doubt, the question is, will we be able to handle them?

I fear the worst, truly, I do, knowing the sacrifices and pain many will endure in the years to come...

For the record: Main Street is still folding up shop & going out of business...

I fear something much worse than the depression of the 30s, Hyper Inflation is what I fear..

OK, so if there is no way to plug the holes, then why complain about the $20B being "wasted" in your words?

One minute you complain about the government wasting money, the next you're upset about cuts. Make up your mind.

I'm going to concede to your point....

It doesn't matter, really it doesn't....

They will burn up whatever they darn well please, it's just a travesty that nobody cares that they are doing it...

I guess nobody will care when they drop the tax bill on us either...

The system is going to fail, Neo already told us...

Stop trying to sound philosophical.

Seriously.

Now, if you could.

And we just spent some $3.5 mil on fireworks on new year's. 15 minutes of boom pow piff and lights, and nobody complained.

This spending we could at least learn something from.
