...as an ATI user I had my share of problem with the drivers; however they have never been insurmountable. What I learned is update less often, only when needed and always leave the time to AMD to issue the "hotfix".

Drivers aside, the 6970 has a certain advantage in terms of power consumption (thus heat & noise):

Personally I find that ATi has much better drivers then nvidia.
I believe the 6970 performance wise is slightly better then a 570, either way both cards are good and you won't be disappointed with either.

GTX 570.

Also, the 570 is not hot nor loud. That rubbish is blown way out of proportion.

I'm a Nvidia user but I would go for AMD for good seasons.

1. Low power consumption.
2. Affordable.

Some people might think. "Just for those two reasons?"

Well yeah lower power consumption means a lot to me. I can save those few extra $'s and maybe get something useful within a few months.

Don't worry so much about the drivers. What are drivers? They are also basically software and it can be changed anytime and anyday. Be worried about the hardware.
