EK CPU water Block HELP. (UPDATE) - Page 2

Thread Starter
Well Got the reply that most say they get from them. NOT THERE PROBLEM.

Here is what the reply was:

Hello,

Sorry to see that, but there is nothing much that can be done about RMA.
Nickel layer is few micrometers thick and nickel is not 100% corrosion proof.(We dont cover defects like that neither by our terms of use.)

It would help a lot if you would run smaller amount of anti corrosion liquid in your loop. Distilled water can and does loose its charasteristics over time and gets ionized.

Why your FB block hasn't corroded its not an issue here but rather a matter of time.
You can try and clean that CPU block a bit and let it run again.

Will stay clear of EK from now on. I guess Im off to buy a new Water Block for my CPU. What is the best CPU block for my 980x (no EK)?

It seems Ek has had a really bad batch of nickle plating the last couple months. I know people that have blocks from months ago that are fine and people that got new ones and there flaking. I dont see why EK wont come out and say they have a bad batch other then there a small company and cant afford to replace all these nickle plated parts.

FYI, PKNuke will void your warranty according to EK now. I had a EK copper GPU block that started to look like yours after only 1-2 months. My CPU block (Swiftech) has been in use for 8-9 months in the same loop and it still looks better.

You can take a look at the Aqua Computer Kryos.

HAAAAAAAAAAA X1110000000

EK = F-a-i-l-u-r-e

Reading this, I will never buy a EK product, I hope a EK staff member will read this.

I hope they go into administration sooner or later! RWAR!

That's dissapointing to hear. I'm running the acetel/copper HF in my machine. I used the same coolant mix you did, OP. Distilled and the recommended amount of PT Nuke. It's been running for a good 8 months now, probably time to tear it down and inspect.

I was under the impression that EK gave top notch customer support and service. Guess I'll go with Heatkiller next time.

Bought my blocks just before xmas and I'm getting pretty worried now. Neither of them have a plexi top, think I'm going to open them soon..

I ran acetal/copper mix for two years without a hint of a problem, used Thermochill EC6 coolant though, heard mixed reviews of PT Nuke so never have trusted it, one of the complaints was exactly what you've described - accelerated electrolytic corrosion. Nasty.

FYI where does it say that? Haven't seen so many bollocks in forums 90's toddlers got to crack the keyboard.
