We all know the customer,a harried machine shop owner that will flip when I tell him he needs a $600.00 desktop and a 3000.00 or so CAD machine (but he knows and wants this stuff) Give me a bit of insight on how to approach a customer with the mindset I describe. What I mean is, hit him with everything the first 15 min. I am there (I go back on Monday at 2.00pm) or one rig at a time? What has happened is what we see a lot, he has let his business operations computer degrade (it won't boot but of course I probably can fix that) and he is way behind in his CAD machine. My plan is to say if spending 4K is out of the question we don't need to talk anymore. How I met this man was I had him do some machine work for me. The shop looks busy. I do not want to sell at cost or work for free.I have looked over the Solidworks software and if he is putting this software to use like it could be,he has the bucks. I have identified a market where high performance gear is actualy needed, kind of neat if you ask me. +reps for james and stallion

EDIT: I got the owners combination desktop/CAD machine up and running so now there is no type of crisis pushing him to get things better organized and use a seperate machine for office work and a seperate machine for CAD. The secretary said they would like seperate machines but since things are working as before they do not need my services. I wanted to sell them two rigs, one for business and one for CAD. It will take a unrepairable failure with the one machine to push them into this. I am trying to get a evaluation copy of SolidWorks so I can see for myself what type of diversion from manufacture stated system requirements is allowed. I suspect many small business's are way behind the times in how their offices, shops are setup computer wise. Lots of Win 98 still being used out there.
