Razer Diamondback 3G - Page 2

The Diamondback and Copperhead mouses have been discontinued so if you really want one I would buy one now as you cannot find them anymore. Buy a few if you really like it.

I got me the Diamondback 3G in red. Tape fix made LOD almost as low as AM and dpi feels like the 800dpi are more like 600dpi now (maybe a second layer of tape will make it 400dpi).

Shape is pretty good, but I find AM is more comfortable. I bought this more of sentimental reasons, because I used an old blue Diamondback ages ago for many years and wanted to see again how this mouse is. It surely is one of the most good looking mice I've tried.
One thing I hate is the cord, way to stiff. Zowie's cord is really the best.
The click feels and sounds stiff, but is actually relatively light compared to the AM. The wheel is really nice, firm and the scroll is very silent (I expect it to start squeaking soon though). One thing I permanently hate about my AM, even more than the stiff buttons, is the very loud and unsmooth wheel scroll.

However, unfortunetely I wasn't lucky and it has a wheelbug (one click, opens two tabs). I guess there is no way to fix it?

All in all, I think the AM is a better mouse, more comfortable and better sensor performance (under the right conditions that is; black mousepad, etc) and much better cord (you don't feel it, you don't hear it, almost like wireless), while the Diamondback cord is always present (makes sound, unflexible). I think the Zowie mousefeet are better, too.
Still, the shape of the Diamondback is good and sensor is very good (low LOD with tapefix) and looks sexy as hell.

Diamondback 3G driver version v1.01 has this two tabs open issue in Opera for me, driver v1.00 works fine. So it's a driver problem then.

Strange, I bought the Diamondback more because of sentimental reasons, but end up using it as my main mouse now. While the AM is more comfortable to rest the hand on, the Diamondback has the perfect lifting grip. The gloss \_/ sides alone would do it, but you also have that glowing rubber rim.
The lighter switches are also nice, while the side buttons feel stiffer (as I prefer it). The silent wheel is really great for internet, but is unprecise when gaming, where AM's clear steps (which are unfortunetely way too loud) are much better to switch weapons.

I played a bit of Aliens Vs. Predator 2 lately with it and it's funny, because I played that game alot with the old Diamondback 1600dpi back in the day. Kind of a deja vu.

I love the red lights on it, fits perfectly the red backlighting of my keyboard.

Aside drift control it seems to track as good as AM and with the tape fix I have just as little LOD. An excellent mouse, only the side button design could have been better. And the software really should have had the 400dpi option, I really don't understand why they just left it out (probably couldn't get it to work properly).
