using MX-4 i used the grain of rice method.

yeah it really depends on this viscosity of the time. i used mx-3 and it was fairly thick at room temp. so the grain of rice size wasnt enough found that 30% of the cpu wasnt covered.

i switched to antec 7 and soaked it in warm/hot water for a few seconds to make it thinner so its spreads nicely.

bought some of the IC 7 Diamond thermal compound because it's supposed to be the bee's knees of thermal paste.

We'll see how it does when I apply it to my SB build in the next couple weeks.

i was just reading how to aply the ic diamond
and it says 10 minute dry-out prior to heat sink installation
so when i put the pea size amount on the cpu i have to wait 10 minutes
befor i put my block on.

mybe thats what i did wrong.

i just used a thin layer over the whole chip (probably thinner than paper) and it worked well for me (i5 2500k)

no i got mine from the overclockers.co.uk forum.
i have also seen them give it away on many other forums.
i actually got a big tube of IC-D and IC Perihelion
its looking pretty good.
from the results i have seen, most people are seeing 1-4.C drop on temps compared to other TIMs
here is a link to results http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=18215803
