First Gaming Build!! Need advice!

Thread Starter
Ok guys this is it. I'm currently stationed overseas and the parts here are generally more expensive because of the money exchange rate and all. So I'm trying to build the best gaming PC that will run almost any game available maxed out. I pretty much need everything, including mouse and keyboard.
Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated. My Budget is 2.7K with everything shipped. Shipping is approximately 300$. I can go up another 100$ on my build but would like avoid that if possible. Took a lot to convince wife to let me do this and I'm not trying to push my luck if you know what I mean. Please let me know if I'm missing anything. This is what i have so far:

nice build man looks solid although i would go with the 1090t its a bit cheaper and only 100mhz slower they literaly took a 1090t and overclocked it 100mhz to get the 1100t other than that looks good
post #3 of 36
Only thing I would change is the case. The drive bays facing the way they are do not allow for a clean build. I would look into a another case around the same price. Antec's are notorious for hard builds in the case and there are much better thought out cases for the same price or cheaper. Just a suggestion. If you wanna look into a really awesome case check out my build log and see how clean the 600T looks. I know I sound like a fanboy, but this is my first build with Corsair and I am impressed!

Will that 600t be able hold the zalman 9900 cpu cooler though? And how's the ventilation/cooling in it?
I will hold the cooler no problem.... its either a very large mid or a smaller full sized tower. The entire front panel is mesh and so is about 90% of the top.... installed 200mm fans could be better but my temps are ok on my 1090T. max has been 44 C on stock heatsink. That was playing WoW and encoding movies for my iPod Touch. If i cut off my limbs and head I bet I could fit my torso inside with my gfx card Also the NZXT Phantom has gotten good reviews. And of course there is also the CM HAF series.

Why the Phenom? Intel's processors are worlds faster and much, MUCH less expensive to buy used. E.g. my processor + mobo cost around 280 used and both parts are MUCH better than the PhII or AM3 mobo; the price would only be a smidge higher to buy new. Intel's are more overclockable; they don't rely on a bumped up stock clockspeed to look attractive.

You could also look at the 2500k or 2600k, which would be much faster as well, but the P67 mobos obviously wouldn't be as polished as the Crosshair.

Also, the Flares seem a bit pricey. You can buy Tridents for the same amount of money; I sold my Trident 2000's + Turbulence II fan for $50. And the Phenom II can only effectively utilize around 1333MHz of memory bandwidth, unlike the Nehalems which effectively utilize 2000+.

Basically, you could save money and get more performance. There's quite literally no advantage and there hasn't been for 6 years to buying an AMD platform at a price point over $800.

Can you post a faster intel build for the same amount of money?
G.Skill Flares NEVER worth it.
G.Skill ECOs at 1600 CL6-8-6 will outperform the 2000 CL9 Flares for half the price
Never go 1100T over 1090T either, $30 for 100Mhz... not worth it unless you liek doing suicide runs for 5Ghz on air at 1.7V.
Not a very good cooler choice, especially at that price.

2x GTX560 OC

And an Intel Processor.

With 2.7k you can definitely afford a faster intel build.

Im in AUS, but i'll happily make you a build.
