Need advice on set-up for Crossfire 2 x 5850 - Page 2

GA-870A-UD3 will bottleneck 2 5850s.
Why: second PCI-E slot runs x4; this will bottleneck 5770 or higher cards

I don' think the board even supports the running of CFX anyway.

That's just what I was thinking.

Get a board that can do at least x8 and x8 simultaneously.

Also, you really don't need 2x5850 to run Crysis 2, even on a 1920x1080 monitor...
Plus, you don't want to mess with CFX (or multigpu in general)...I'm considering selling my second 5850 which I bought less than a week ago.

I want to try to future proof the set-up a bit i.e. I don't want to buy a new mobo for 2-3 years. As such, a multiple (i.e. more than 2) crossfire set-up needs to be feasible - at least on paper if not with my bank (or wife!).

Could the dual x8 be a limitation? I've been told that the MSI 790FX-GD70 would be ideal - although it looks a little pricey.

Any other ideas?
I have that board (see sig) and x8 is not a limitation at all. Unless your talking $700 dual GPU cards in one slot. Then it kinda bottlenecks a little .
