Has anyone been able to boot from a PERC 5/i or 6/i in a GA-890FXA-UD5?

I had a 5/i in my old MSI K9A2 Platinum board and it booted from the RAID drive. I upgraded to the new board to get DDR3 and now it wont boot from the RAID drive on the PERC. I have to boot from an on-board SATA drive. I tried upgrading to a PERC 6/i, but it's the same deal.

I run Fedora, so I only need grub and /boot on the motherboard attached drive, but I'd be happier if I didn't need the extra non-redundant drive.

System BIOS and PERC BIOS post just fine. I can go into Ctrl-R and make changes. It sees the logical drives and reports that BIOS is handling them. The system BIOS says Loading Operating System... then nothing.

I tried back-revving the bios to F3 too. No luck there. I'm back on F6 now.

Any suggestions?
