eVGA nVidia 780 SLI board

I don't know jack about Socket 775 boards, but I know this one is really decent for overclocking. My friend had one of these laying around, didn't really know what the heck it was I might use it for my HTPC upgrade, but I don't really like it... I mean, NB has a fan on it, knowing nVidia chipsets probably really hot... probably wouldn't be a very good choice for an HTPC. I'm contemplating letting it go here. How much would I get for it? This board

you can probably pick up that mobo used for about $70-80. I have it in my sig rig which i built 3 years ago (and have been upgrading) It is an ok board at best. The north bridge runs hot, the stock fan to cool it sucks and the placement of the heatsink might be offset by the foam pads undernearth. It is best to remove the heatsink of the NB and SB, and ensure the foam pads aren't being pinched between the NB/SB chips and the heatsink. Also toss the stock NB fan and just strap a 80mm fan to it.

The overclocking is ok. The 780i is known to have a fsb wall after about 475fsb. My CPU has plenty of head room to push past 4ghz but my motherboard is limiting me.

Dont get me wrong the mobo has been rock solid for me for 3 years. But there are better mobo's out there.

For a HTPC 780i is overkill. You wont need to run sli to do what a HTPC does. And typically you dont want to overclock a HTPC, most people actually underclock them to save on electricity and lower the heat output so they can put them in cases that dont require a good amount of air flow.

Yeah, definitely not a board for the HTPC. Considering this sale would help fund a more proper board/CPU for my HTPC, that is excellent thanks everyone!

I just sold this board a few days ago for $100, so I'd start there then go down if you can't get someone to bite.

$100 shipped sounds pretty fair

All right, I'll take your words for it, $100 shipped seems about right I'll be testing this board with my HTPC1 CPU (a Pentium 4) and the Dominator DDR2-1066 in the unused SFF PC/dad's office PC soon. Thanks all!
