v639dragoon: "I have another hard drive, is it possible to install linux on it and choose from which hard drive I want to load from each time I start my computer?"

Yes. The simplest way is to use NTLDR to boot windows or linux. You will get a boot choice, before windows starts to load. There are only three steps:

1. Peel back the bootsector on the Linux drive with "dd".
2. Copy the bootsector image to the windows drive.
3. Edit c:\\\\boot.ini with one line.

Seems overly complicated instead of just installing Linux on the spare drive and pressing ESC.
