No

Just big time slow downs in BC2, fps would drop into the 30's, where as 8x/8x is always > 80fps.

Am just debating whether it would be worth going 16x4x crossfire with 6970's in the future

Yeah I think it's best not to crossfire with 16x4x

Am just going to upgrade my mobo in the future methinks. Maybe get a Crosshair IV

Heck you might as well sell the 70's and go with 50's and a new mobo.
That's basically what happens when you run that bandwidth, you knock your cards down a notch.
You'll also need a new psu, I wouldn't cfx on a 600w unit.

Not really worth it having to sell all that stuff. Might as well just wait a couple of years and get a more powerful single card.

The big question is why did my mobo maker promote crossfire in the first place? they knew about the x16/x4 pcie spec comes with crap crossfire performance, okay they got it enabled but.. i feel misdirection-ed.

I have 5770s crossfired on 16x 4x with acceptable performance.

Waiting for the new chips to get a 8x/8x or 16x/16x board (AM3+ or 1155).

Performance increase not worth buying a new AM3 board just for pci bandwidth IMO.
