[eng] MacBook Pro review (early 2011) - Page 5

Beautiful machine. I agree though, I think Apple should at least provide blu-ray as an option.

I'd get the base model 15" one and then stuff a 256GB Intel G2 in it...yum!

On another note, what is the longevity of all of these other computers that you guys are talking about? Meaning the years that the computer lasts? I figure that Apple does a much better job in keeping their product working throughthe years. I'm considering scooping up the 13inch one for the wife eventually as a gift. Just have to sell a couple of kidneys though.......

I'd actually prefer a MBP without any disc drives. SSD for OS HDD for storage by default. You can do it manually though with optibay.

Think he meant Apple ADC 20% hardware discount. Student membership is $99. Depends on which model you're getting as to whether it's better to get a refurb or ADC.

Am I the only person who thinks the new MBP's look ugly?

No, but the "new" look isn't "new". It's been 3 years now with this unibody style.

I loved my 13" macbook. But I could barely play TF2 on it and I couldnt justify the price in the end so I returned it and purchased the HP laptop in my signature for $600 from MC.
I really do miss that sleek aluminum... such a sucker for aluminum.

BTW, in W7 on the macbook (not the 2011 model, the 2010 that advertises 8-hour life) I only got like 3.5-4 hours.

Nice but I love my current MBP. So no upgrade. Gonna make it last like my last MB.

What were you doing? I have the same model year, 13" and routinely get 7 hours with wifi on, screen brightness at 75, and internet constantly going.
