Thread Starter
After looking around to see if anyone else was experiencing similar problems, I came across one thread saying that it was their 6870.

So I grabbed a 8800gt and tried running it with that and still no luck. I tried one stick and no stick. The cpu error led came up only once, so I don't think its the cpu. My fat fingers are all pointing towards the MB.

I'm going to patiently wait for Gigabyte's revision motherboard and try once more. If it still doesn't work, I'm gonna A!

Bummer to hear the problem isn't sorted yet. Looks like the culperite is indeed your mobo, or possibly your PSU. I would RMA both of them just to be sure and wait for the replacements. After all, if you plan on OC'ing you'll be much happier with the Asus board than you will be with a Gigabyte.
I'd defonately not trade all in for a laptop..
