Ok, DX11 mode - 1900*1200- 4xaa - everithing ULTRA except crowd since the tesselation slowsdown the game in the trailer because the massive concentration of people.

I don't think Dirt 2 is CPU heavy, at least not acroding to Everest.

Nah, if those are your settings then I'd say you're right.

Are your GPU clocks dropping when it happens? Maybe it thinks you're idling and slows down?

But i used to get 60. Plus watching some bench marks of the Radeon 5850 above 60 is the norm.

Well they shouldnt i think. Im using the MSI afterburner to do an slight Overclock withouth raising the voltage. But i have done test even withouth using afterburner and it doesnt make any difference.

They shouldn't, but are they? Also PowerPlay is not a part of Afterburner, so it would happen whether or not AB was open if it is in fact PowerPlay that's messing up.

But when you fix the memory and core clock via afterburner using a profile, it wont use any other of the 5 fixed states. At least for what i understand.

Curiously you are the man i should be talking Going by your specs we are more or less in the same ball park. Same power supply and a 5850, my CPU is an AMD X3 705e thought.

Depends on the card. I have fully functioning PowerPlay @ 1000/1225 (Rev.1 Asus cards were unlocked from factory) which causes some confusion when I'm trying to help other HD5xxx users. Hell, if I had voltage control in CCC, I could do all OC'ing with ATI Overdrive because my sliders go to 1200/1400.

And yes, I was pleasantly surprised to see a fellow VX550 user

Ok, i don´t know what to say about the possible power play issue them

Talking about the specific case of Dirt 2, right now i have lost those 15 fps, but when i run the game or do a bench mark, is not like its stuttering or suddenly dropping frames. Performance is constant althought is not where it should be. Dont know if i was clear enough.

Yea... And check this out, if i run at stock i lose even more frames (like 4 frames) in the case of Dirt 2, in comparison to what i get with the usual overclock.
