About to pull the trigger on a 2500K - Page 2

Thats a nice board, I have the AM3+ one... if you get the AMD one it is AM3+ compatible so when BD comes out you can put one of those in there.

BEST price/performance right now with that build. Go for it! btw, the board is sold out... might take days for it to come back in stock (

I too came from a Q6600, clocked at 3.4. At 4.8 the 2500k really handles CPU heavy games well, GTA4 and SupComm etc.
I was looking at GD65 but was out of stock when I purchased, so got Asus Evo.
Was a bit more, but its features and great and rock solid with the OC.

4.8 GHz @ 1.30v is great for me ^^. My hyper 212 /w 2 fans equals max temp ~65. Hit the wall at 4.7, 1.25 - 1.30 for 100MHz

I'm so tempted to drive down to Microcenter and pick up an ASUS P8P67-Pro, 2500k, 8GB 1600 RAM, and a Hyper 212 but I cannot convince myself to pay their inflated prices + tax. I'd end up spending a total of $80 extra between tax and the huge price hike on the ASUS mobos.

Does anyone know if Microcenter is still doing 2500k processors for $179.99 with a motherboard purchase? The website has them listed at $199.99.

I would wait for the rest of the boards to come around. The p8p67 ( plain ) is a decent board for the price.

Just recently jumped from a q6600 to a 2500k and overall I'm pretty happy with it. It was probably a 25% increase in framerates in the games I play (bfbc2, rift) but the biggest advantage was the minimum fps weren't as low.
