Acer Aspire crashed!

Thread Starter
Heya! Earlier this day, my computer crashed. It simply wont start. Or i can get as far as the "login screen". Then when i try to login, it freezes at "welcome".
Ive tried to press the F8 button to reach the system reparation setup. I've tried to restore the system to an earlier condition in the F8 menu, but it hasnt changed. I really do hope you can help me.

I have a backup of my most important files, so they are safe. I just need my computer to be operational again.

Sounds to me like your HDD might be borked. Do you have another computer where you can plug it in and run a SMART test on it? Also try running a MEM test, maybe a bad stick of memory?

Basically just plug in SATA power and data and download CrystalDisk or HDTune and go to town.

That will help some what. Just plug them in The one on the left is a SATA HDD from a laptop.

SATA Data

& SATA Power

Had a friend who looked at it just now and he convinced me that a restore to factory settings was the right option. Now, when Windows are trying to install itself, it says (translated from danish): Have encountered an error, windows installation cannot continue, press "OK" to reboot the system and try again.

It won't work, regardless of number of attempts.

Sounds to me like you might have a faulty HDD, that's why.
